I’m sitting on the Bolt Bus about to head back to New York for a work event and was happily impressed to find they have free wireless here! So now I get to post my pics from the first part of my New York tourist weekend. Four of my friends and I went for the long Columbus Day weekend and literally ran all over town from 10am till 2am the following day and doing that all over again the next day.
Since I lived in New York for several years I feel more like a native than a tourist, but I don’t mind occasionally indulging the tourist side and going around with a camer in my hand and an unlimited ride subway card in my back pocket. In one day we walked all along 5th, Park and Madison avenues. We took the Staten Island Ferry, walked past Ground Zero and ate at a total dive in Little Italy. Then Times Square by night, which included an extended shopping trip to Forever21, the M&M Store, and then dessert at Ruby Tuesday. (Hard Rock Cafe refused to seat us for dessert because we wouldn’t be a big enough bill. FAIL)
Picking clothes for this kind of trip is challenging in that obviously I want the outfits to be blog worthy but they also need to be super practical and functional. I would have loved to pack heels and skirts, but that was just not smart if I planned to be outside walking around all day. I opted for pants and layering with thin sweaters and my favorite pair of comfy flats.
Tip: Never wear new shoes, even if they are comfortable, on a walking-related vacation!

I love the Forever 21 in Times Square! I was in NYC this summer when it opened, and I went there at least once a week. These pictures make me miss New York!
