After IFBCon and LuckyFABB ended, I hosted a little party at the Top of the Strand. Holding the blogger meet-up directly after the conference might not have been the best timed thing, but amazingly it was the only free night of the whole week.
The Strand was a great host to the 35+ bloggers who attended, even making us a special cocktail known as the Big Orange – they say it tasted sweet and refreshing like a mimosa. I’m looking forward to going back there the next time I’m in town and grabbing a drink when the roof isn’t closed to protect the place from the rain. The view to the Empire State Building is really worth the trip, not to mention the seating is so conducive to talking and relaxing.
A special shout-out to We Love Colors and Mica Gem for contributing take-home goodies for all of us. I can’t wait to try out my colored fishnets.
But better than the free swag, great drinks, and amazing if not wet view of the city from the enclosed rooftop bar, was the group of bloggers who gathered. I met so many of them for the first time – finally putting an actual person with the faces I see weekly on their blogs. There were too many in attendance to list them all – but if you were around, leave a comment below so we can all keep connecting.
And can I just say – my mom has always said I’m an event planner at heart. After putting this little shindig together I’d have to agree with her. There was something so great about welcoming people to an event I put together and playing hostess for a little while. I’m obsessed and want to plan more. I’ve got great plans for events in Boston and Chicago in the months ahead. New York might also need to make that list. We’ll see.
