It’s finally here - the official kick-off to the summer months! Memorial Day!
Now that the summer is here, it’s time to start thinking about BBQ style, and being able to wear white without being looked down upon by the older set who still believes you can’t wear white before Memorial Day. HA. It’s time to pull out the shorts, graphic tees, wedge sandals, white pants and everything else that summer weather entails.
When it comes to Memorial Day, Labor Day and Fourth of July, I don’t like to go crazy with the red, white and blue. I’m not usually one to wear an all out flag on my shirt, but I like putting together an outfit that makes subtle use of the three colors. The dressier outfit on the left is a favorite.
When it comes to white I like to keep the outfit simple with few other colors or patterns. Since white tends to be a color that accentuates and makes parts look larger, I like to downplay that with other solid colors and statement-making accessories. I love how white can be dressy for a night out, or casual for a day out with friends.
What are you doing today? I plan to celebrate the day with an all-out BBQ and hopefully a long hike just outside of San Francisco. Special shout out to my brother who is serving this country as a Marine.
