My mom is the ultimate crafter. And while I tend to be a pitcher - someone who throws out anything and everything that isn’t being immediately used - she is really good on hanging on to scraps and little things that can be useful some day in some way. I suppose that’s what make a true crafter. I, on the other hand, tend to get excited about a specific craft or project, purchase all the items needed and then create to my hearts content before ditching it and moving on to something else.
Now as the weather is beginning to get nice again and the sun is starting to shine on most days, I feel like it is time to begin crafting again. And with that comes the realization that I will need to make some new purchases to build up my collection, while my mom is of the opinion you can never have too many crafting supplies.
So, here are 5 reasons why you can never have enough craft supplies:
More Supplies Equals More Play
If you don’t have many supplies stored away for projects, you’re (at least I am) less likely to make a project in the spur of the moment. You don’t want to waste your embroidery floss or the charm you were saving on a venture that could be labeled a DIY disaster. If you purchase your craft supplies in bulk and hold onto the cuttings and snippets, you’ll have a supply that lasts you awhile and affords you the time to experiment in your crafting projects.
Buy in Bulk and Save
Craft stores reward their loyal customers with coupons and free incidentals as a way of saying thank you for being such an awesome customer. When you buy in bulk, you can expect to get 10 percent off of the entire purchase (I have on many occasions without even asking!) for getting all of your crafting supplies with their store. Make sure you sign up for their loyalty rewards program and electronic newsletters; you’ll get even more savings!
You’re Prepared for Crafting Season
If you’re at all like me, the bulk of your crafting projects are made during the months of October, November and December. It’s the time of year when I make most of my seasonal decorations and spruce up the decorations I made in years previous. Having extra crafting supplies also means that you can start your seasonal crafting anytime in the year. It’ll feel good getting your Halloween decorations in order in August instead of in mid-October. And an added bonus? You’ll get even more excited about all things fall!
Crafting Supplies You Should Always Have in Stock
When you’re in the middle of a project and run out of your material supply before being able to complete the design, well, that’s frustrating. It means you have to get up, go out and get more stuff. Every crafter knows that once you’re in the zone, not being able to finish what you’ve started is über annoying. Supplies that you should ALWAYS have on hand include: tape, acrylic paint, embroidery floss, construction paper and hot glue sticks, just to name a few.
You Have Something to Do with Your Hands
I’m not someone who is satisfied just sitting on the couch after work and watching TV until it’s time for bed. If you’re reading this, I’m willing to bet you’re the same. Having crafting supplies on hand will give you something to do when your mind is racing, filled with anxiety or worry. Crafting challenges your skills and improves your dexterity. Studies show crafting is also a great way to de-stress after a hard day.
Not everyone has a craft supplies arsenal in their closet; some of us have to start our collection from scratch. Find your crafting supplies at stores like A.C. Moore, they provide excellent service to their customers and make you feel right at home!
What will you be crafting this Spring and Summer?
