Craft Beer and Cideries, oh my!

Last year I made it to 10 new-to-me breweries and tried at least 50 new-to-me beers. And of course, this year will be no different for this craft-beer loving gal. My goal - at least one new brewery each month. And at least 3 new beers each month.

I’m knocking several of those new-to-me beers off the list later this month at the 8th Annual Winter Brew, an indoor beer tasting event hosted by the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce! The event takes place on Saturday, January 26 at the DANK Haus German American Cultural Center with two available times: 12-4 pm, or 6-10 pm.
17 local Chicago breweries and 3 cideries will be there, each highlighting at least two craft brews - not to mention some rare, specialty tappings and limited releases! And, joy of joys for this beer girl, I’ve only tried a few of these breweries, so I’ll have plenty of opportunities to discover something new and delicious. Fingers crossed a number of them have porters and stouts on tap. (The fewer IPAs the better, in my opinion.)

In case you’re curious, these breweries will be there:

  • Alarmist Brewing
  • Aleman Brewing Company
  • Band of Bohemia
  • Begyle Brewing
  • Dovetail Brewery
  • Empirical Brewery
  • Half Acre Beer Company
  • Horse Thief Hollow
  • Illuminated Brew Works (just tried their Christmas beer and am obsessed!)
  • Old Irving Brewing Co.
  • Open Outcry Brewing
  • Pipeworks Brewing Co.
  • Sketchbook Brewing Co.
  • Spiteful Brewing
  • Temperance Beer Co.
  • Twisted Hippo
  • Urban Renewal Brewery
  • Eris Brewery & Cider House
  • Right Bee Cider
  • The Northman

Admission is $10 per person. Food & beverage tickets cost $1 each and are available for pre-purchase in quantities of 10 and 20. Snag your tickets here.
