How To Wear Animal Print - 7 Ways To Incorporate it Into Your Closet

Yes, animal print is everywhere this season. Leopard and snake, specifically are really having a moment. But animal print it nothing new to me. Although, I will say that my closet now has more animal print than ever. Honestly, I don’t think I go a day without some piece of leopard print or snake print making its way into my outfit. But I know, now everyone feels comfortable about wearing animal print. So, here are several different ways to wear animal print if you’re looking for a little inspiration.

Leopard Print Sweater for Work and Play

This sweater is super simple and basic - in it’s design, shape and color choice. To me, this is an easy beginner option for someone who isn’t feeling super confident in wearing this trend. I’ve paired it both with a pencil skirt for a more work-appropriate look, and a pair of mom jeans and wedge booties for a weekend look. I’ve also worn this sweater as a standalone and layered under a vest or jacket - depending on the amount of layering the weather calls for.

Leopard Silk Midi-Skirt

This is for the bold at heart. Not everyone feels confident wearing a midi skirt, let alone a silk one, or a leopard print one at that. There are many ways to style this skirt. I went with an updated version of how I wore it in the summer - using a graphic tee and a jacket. Add tights or knee-high boots for the super cold weather.

Bringing in animal print in a small way - booties, a scarf, a headband - can be a great way to dip your toe into this winter trend. Grab one that you feel comfortable wearing, in a pattern and color combination that works with your current wardrobe. I think shoes are perhaps the easiest, but I also have a leopard headband that I wear at least once a week.

Animal Print Winter Coat

The weather is hard enough without wrapping ourselves in boring black, navy, and brown coats. I’m all about wearing a bright color or bold pattern in the cold months. These two winter coats certainly fit the bill, and work with the current animal print trend.

Animal Print Outer Layer

Layering in the winter is a must - at least for this Midwestern girl. I like to wear a very basic outfit and then pair it with a bold jacket, vest or wrap. Leopard print items like this were a staple in my closet last winter, and will no doubt be making a reappearance this year as well. I’ve already been getting a lot of wear out of the leopard blazer - two winter fashion trends in one piece.

Animal Print Pants

This pair of denim is a favorite, especially in the fall and spring months. The cropped style makes it a little tricky for full-on winter wear, although I’m determined to give it a try this year. If denim leopard print isn’t your style, there are plenty of other options - subtle patterned dress pants, joggers, workout leggings, etc… These pants from Paige Denim are still available.

Animal Print Blouse

Wearing the jungle doesn’t have to be something that is only appropriate on the weekends or after work hours. Sure, I wear mine all the time. But there are plenty of professional looking blouses out there that can be worn layered under a blazer, dress, or suit. I wore this combination several times last year, and it was one of my favorites that never made it to the blog. (This is also a great pic to illustrate how far I’ve come in caring for my curly hair and really making it pop.)

Am I missing anything?? How do you like to incorporate leopard print into your wardrobe?
