“The Shoe” that Works - Guest Post

Shelley Zurek, the Chief Blonde, writes the wildly popular Still Blonde after all these YEARS blog. The blog is for Women over 45 and ALL who love giveaway over $50. She is the Co-host (along with yours truly) of “Fashionista Events”, the Largest Fashion Giveaway event on the Internet!

The Chief blonde is wearing Blue Slingback from Vera Wang for Kohl’s (2011 collection $89.99), with a vintage denim jacket and old Express Maxi dress.

You have that shoe. You know the one. It’s the one you bought ages ago… It’s just the right color… The right height… It goes with everything. It’s easy to walk and stand in.

The Chief Blonde wears “The Shoe” with a dark navy vintage hose and a “Rita” style Karina Dress ($169)

It’s “The Shoe” if you could only pack one for the weekend (who EVER does that?), it would be the one you’d grab. It looks good with hose or not…always gets compliments years later…makes your legs look hot.

The Chief Blonde wears “THE SHOE” with head to toe Fresh Produce clothing.

“The Shoe” can even make dorky capris look better. That’s saying a lot.

Dressed up for a wedding, the Chief Blonde sports a dress by Monroe and Main, vintage DKNY Pointelle sweater and “The Shoe”

When you have your son’s wedding and a company gifts you the perfect dress to wear…it’s no shock that the shoe is the one that looks best! There is only one question…

Why oh Why, didn’t you buy all the colors they had in “The Shoe”!

Katy Rose

My shoe is actually a boot. They’re chocolate brown platforms that only go to the midcalf so they have to be worn with slacks or jeans. The platform and the boot itself is all one piece so they don’t look like platforms. Got them at TJ Maxx about 6 years ago. Had the heels fixed a few times and finally had to have the whole sole replaced, but now they’re good for another 6 years!

That made me laugh and your outfit is stunning. I remember years ago I had a pair of navy blue pumps I loved, well my husband did not shut our closet door all the way and while we were at work our one year old lab got in there and thought my favorite shoes were his new toy. Boy I sure wish I had bought more than one pair of “The Shoe”

This is where men will never understand us women. Once we find the perfect shoe, we have to have it in all the colors. I have a pair of shoes like that. Luckily I did buy it in every color. Those shoes are really cute. I wish I could find heels that worked for me. I’m so tall (nearly 6 feet), and I wear an 11 Wide. Why companies think every women wears a size 10 normal width (or lower) is beyond me. Finding heels that fit right and are comfortable is incredibly hard, so I don’t often wear them. Your shoes look great on you.

You are correct, that definitely is ‘the shoe”. I remember my mother wearing a shoe exactly like that(different color). She wore that shoe when she got married and wore it for years afterward. I remember her wearing it when I was a teenager. She kept such good care of those shoes and always cleaned and wrapped them after wearing them. I am jealous that I do not have ‘the shoe’.

Aren’t you charming and stylish. the reason we don’t buy every color of ‘the’ shoe is because we don’t KNOW that it is “the’ shoe when we are buying it. We might suspect, but extra pairs of shoes are a big investment. Only wearing ‘the’ shoe over time produces ‘the’ shoe. If that makes any sense.

“The shoe” for me is actually a pair I got at a consignment shop — Anne Taylor, black pumps, half-size larger than what I normally wear. Easy on the feet while still possessing a 2.5-3″ heel. Never could have afforded/justified them to myself for full price :)

I have two pairs of shoes that haunt me… The first, I bought and completely wore out. I had a chance to buy a second pair and I didn’t do it.

The second pair was a pair I coveted forever. I waited until they went on sale but then I got greedy- 40% off wasn’t enough. Next thing I knew, they were gone.

It’s interesting that each of the photos show a different aspect of you: casual and chic, elegant and sophisticated, and fun and flirty, and confident and trendy. The last photo is extremely unique because the dress is contemporary and urban, but the background is rural and natural, pastoral even. The contrast between the two, urban and rural, highlights and accentuates the beauty of the dress and shoes. One theme is consistent in all of the photos: the versatility of those gorgeous shoes.

Well you make all the shoe’s sparkle, I liked each pose and outfit you had on with them. Shoe’s are my downfall and I have been left wondering countless time’s, WHY didn’t I just buy everone in that color, exactly!

Those shoes are so cute & fashionable. I wish I could wear heels like those, but simply can’t. I would fall face first lol.

I so need a shoe like that. I love the one you are wearing. Wish I could find a nice flat that would work for me.

I’ve really never thought about my “go to shoe”, however I realize that I too have a wonderful pair. My brown flojo flip flops! They are marvelous, comfy and go with practically everything. 😉

Cute shoes, but as a 5’9″ woman with a 5’10” husband, I wish that so many cute shoes didn’t have those platforms nowadays!

Looks like a cute, stylish shoe. I’m not sure how comfortable the heels would be for me as I prefer wedge heels.

This is too funny because it’s so true. I have a pair of shoes like that and my boyfriend calls them my “hobo” shoes because they are so worn down, but I refuse to get rid of them haha!

Sooo true! I have a pair of black pumps that are not too fancy, not too casual, not too high, but not too flat and super comfortable. They go with everything, BUT I’ve worn the heels out to the point of no return :( and I bought them so many years ago at a discount, that they’re not even made anymore. So very sad!

It has been a long while since I have worn a “great” pair of dress-up shoes - that went with practically every outfit of choice. You certainly found yourself a “diamond in the rough” - great job! :)

This shoe is nice and versatile. I am always looking for a style that will go with a number of different looks. If they fit nicely, it would certainly be wise to get them in each color offered.

Great shoe, looks very comfortable. I have had that shoe, and they always get ruined. I want to know how you keep them looking nice and share with everyone. I would think some of my problem is that I do not keep the box, but then storage becomes a problem. Like the post though, thanks!

I have had a shoe like that. It fits great and last a long time, then they don’t make it any more?
