My cousin got married this past weekend down in Savannah, which gave my whole family the perfect excuse to head down to Georgia for a little vacation. They drove and will be spending the week. I flew down and joined them for a long four-day weekend. Needless to say between the rehearsal dinner, wedding day, and sight-seeing there wasn’t much time for sleeping! Here’s the trip in a couple instagram pics from the days away. Outfit posts from the weekend will follow in the week ahead.
My mom rented a house through Vacation Rentals By Owner, which turned out to me AMAZING!! This Victorian had four bedrooms and seven beds, which works out well when you have a really large family. The decor was adorable.
The rehearsal dinner was held at Old Fort Jackson, where we ate a low country boil, watched dolphins plan in the Savannah River, and experienced the shooting of a canon. The after party was held at the rooftop bar at the Bohemian. (The chicks below are my sisters.)
The wedding was at Sacred Heart Church with the reception at the Savannah Station.
The next day we went to Tybee Island to swim in the water, lounge on the beach, and check out the lighthouse. The water there was warm - so much warmer than the Cape Cod beaches I was used to back in Boston.
In between activities we spent a lot of time walking along the river and strolling Market Street. We went on a ghost tour, ate at the Moon River Brewing Company, sipped chilly drinks from Wet Willies, explored the Savannah Candy Shop, bought a few homemade items from the River Street Market Place, played chess in Ellis Park, and closed down The Social Club. (The tall dudes below are my brothers, besides the 11-year-old I look diminutive next to them. HA)
And of course I made sure to check out the Savannah Cathedral. I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve seen stained glass as stunning as this in any American Church. I stayed nearly an hour, but I could have stayed longer. There was so much beauty to take in.
And now I need a vacation to recoup from my vacation!!!

Okay, for one you’re making me wish I could stay in Savannah. That house is gorgeous and absolutely perfect! Wow! It’s like a setting for a novel. Secondly, I adore all your dresses. So perfect for a summer vacation. Third, your brothers are so handsome! And lastly, that lighthouse just makes me swoon all over.
Great post, Katy!

LOL I’ll be sure to tell my bros! They will love that. They are always on my case that I don’t feature them more on the blog. HA
I loved all of your photos! Looks like a really great weekend!
