Good news. It is not just impressive cake goddesses who can create memorable desserts. Now, with the help of a new book, ‘Cake My Day,’ and the beautiful Sweetworks candies being your own cake boss is easier than ever. I don’t want to give away all the contents of this book, but let me tell you it is more than 100 pages of stunning cakes filled with ingenuity and creativity. And it will make you hungry. Really hungry for sugary goodness.

Using some of the cakes in the Cake My Day book as inspiration, I pulled together a themed party and made a rainbow fish cake. It worked perfectly with one of my favorite childhood books: The Rainbow Fish. Not creative enough to come up with your own design? No worries, the book has dozens of designs, many of which use Sweetworks candies as the main decorating agent.

The creation process was pretty easy, all things considered. I baked a full sheet cake, created a fish template and then cut out the design from the cake. Next I popped the cake in the freezer for several hours to make it harden before adding food dye to my white frosting and covering the cake with colored goodness. Next I used Sweetworks Pearls to create the Rainbow Fish design, a gumball for the eye and tiny Sixlets for the mouth. Simple, but awesome, right?!

I’m co-owner of a specialty company that bakes “per order”. No matter what our clients want, we make it…and we get some odd requests…lol. My partner and I are both disabled so we depend on these for things that pop up unexpectedly. However, there’s not always alot of orders as we live in a very small town. In the past few months we’ve started receiving more orders for younger kids parties. I would love to add this to our available cakes. It’s adorable…and now I want cake!

This is the neatest book. I wasn’t aware of this book or the authors until these reviews and I am most impressed. Aren’t they so so talented. I love all of the cake pictures and step by step directions. And the complete list of all ingredients that will be needed to make the cake is so helpful. You did an excellent job on your cake, you honestly did.
