Oatmeal - Lotion For Beauty, Grains For Health

So, let’s be honest. Mornings are rough, especially winter mornings. The alarm goes off and nothing is as comfy and warm as your bed. It’s still dark outside. Maybe there is snow or frost coating your car, which means standing in the chill scraping away at your windows while the vehicle warms up a little. Then there is the dry skin that seems to be a permanent part of the winter months. Plus there is the need for a warm and nourishing meal.

Did you know oatmeal is packed with goodness that will impact not just your overall health but also your skin too? Yeah, I didn’t know that either. But it’s true. Oatmeal contains nutrients that are known to give our bodies energy, which allows all of us to be our most radiant, healthy, beautiful self. St. Ives sent me its Nourish & Sooth Oatmeal & Shea Butter Lotion as well as a couple of St Ives Radiance Boost Bowls to see how oatmeal is great for both health and beauty.

I took the bottle of oatmeal lotion to work with me and leave it on my desk, always putting it on first thing in my work day and then as needed throughout the rest of the hours I’m there. It’s made with 100% natural moisturizers like shea butter and glycerin. Plus it is Paraben-free. So it leaves my skin, especially my dry hands, feeling hydrated, soft and smooth. (My students have begun asking to use the oatmeal lotion too because they love the way it feels and the way it smells.)

The little mason jars of oatmeal? Yup, those go to school with me too and are able to provide an easy-to-make breakfast that is also filling and healthy. I don’t usually take the time to make breakfast every morning, because I’m already up early as it is, so this is the perfect option. Fill a mason jar with oats and some great fruits and nuts, add boiling water to the mix. Cover for a few minutes, stir and enjoy. That means I’m able to eat an awesome meal while sitting at my desk creating that to-do list to order my day.

The jars St. Ives sent along are from New York-based OatMeals. While containing delicious oats it also had pears, almonds, apricots and cranberries, along with crystallized ginger and honey powder. Honestly I’ve never had such great on-the-go oatmeal in my life. It makes me want to start experimenting with oatmeal jars of my own. For my New Yorkers, OatMeals will have the St. Ives Radiance Bowl available through April.

St. Ives also has a Nourished and Smooth Oatmeal Body Scrub - perfect for that early morning shower to get you prepped and ready for the day ahead. It has 100% natural exfoliants, such as walnut shell and hydrated silica, as well as oatmeal, honey and glycerin.
