So, I don’t entirely buy into the capsule idea (mostly because it seems like very few clothing items to work with over the entire year. But I do LOVE having items in my closet that can be easily mixed and matched with other items. Clothing that must be paired with only one thing is a no-go for me.
But for vacation, especially one that has you away from home for 30 days, a capsule is a must. It’s important to pack things that can be mixed and matched with at least 5 other items - or at least that is my mantra. I create dozens of outfits with very few things. For instance, this year I packed 6 bottoms - this army green pleated skirt, a black pleated skirt, a white skirt, a pair of black culottes, a pair of cropped denim and a pair of black tapered leg pants. I packed a few more tops - but didn’t take anything that couldn’t be worn with at least three of the bottom options.
Skirt: Who What Wear via Target
Shirt: Target
Necklace: ShopBop (sold out but similar)
Shoes: Jeffery Campbell via ShopBop
Jacket: New York & Co.
Earrings/Ring: Stella & Dot
Despite the color, this army green skirt makes the perfect addition to a vacation capsule. It goes well with this wine-colored top as well as a basic black t-shirt. I can wear it with a number of the patterned blouses I brought as well. Throw on a pair of pumps or a heeled sandal and the look is complete, with very little effort required.
What do you always pack in your vacation capsule? Is there an item that always makes the trip with you?

Because of how I live (morothome full-time travelling) I have to have a capsule wardrobe. Love the colour of that skirt!
