I’m a hand-written letter kind of girl. It all started the summer before 6th grade. I went off to an overnight camp and became friends with a girl who lived in Wisconsin. Since this was well before emails and texting, we exchanged addresses and for years we sent each other letters.
For 8 years we wrote letters back and forth until we ended up at the same university for a few years. In those letters I told her anything and everything. Sometimes the details were random - I like pickles and why do we say happy birthday but merry Christmas? Why not Happy Christmas? I sent her my first manuscript. I collected stationery to send her the coolest sheets and based on the letters I got in return, I think she did the same.
Since college we are able to text and call, but we still send hand-written letters. I still love to send her, and a number of other friends and relatives, personalized notes via snail mail. In fact I am more likely to send you a letter in the mail than a phone call - I’ve always hated the phone. And you are more likely to get a random card from me for no reason, or to celebrate Halloween than you are at Christmas - I just never find the time to write at that time of the year. But my friends know they can expect a letter from me to show up in their mailbox from time to time.
Now that I’m an adult, I use personalize the stationery, like these pretties from Basic Invite. The best part, is while the site has a number of templates you can personalize each design to meet your needs. I changed the coloring on all of these. And with 180 different colors available, it’s completely possible to get cards and invites that are perfectly in line with your event or brand! Plus, I added my name or a message to the cards.
And to make it even better, you can order samples to make sure the coloring and design is exactly what you want. This feature is awesome for things like wedding invitations and graduation invites. The samples allow you to see and feel the real thing before committing and ordering hundreds! No buyers remorse that way!
This is a sponsored post for Basic Invite. All opinions are my own.

I write letters all the time - to my mum, my oldest remaining friend, my sister, my former employer’s 2 little boys. I use printer paper because I tend to write long letters (6-8 weeks between mailing windows), so have a lot to say. Well, not really as a rule, but Mum & stepdad like to know the minutiae of life on a cattle station, so I give them as much as I can.
My mum & stepdad LOVE getting letters, neither of them is computer literate, and both dislike the phone. Plus, this gives them something to look forward to in the post.
That being said, I adore nice stationary….
Thanks for sharing the post. This stuff really helps a lot and brought me new ideas which I can implement on writing letters.
