Black Riding Boots and the DSW ShoeHookup

Anyone who reads this blog on a regular basis knows that a good number of the shoes I own come from DSW. Why? Well, when you are a size 11 your shoe options are somewhat limited. Most department stores don’t carry 11s unless they are returns from the online store. (I have found some amazing deals in the sales racks.) Also, DSW makes it super easy to shop for 11s, because they put a handy-dandy sticker on every box containing my size shoes. That means I can walk up and down the aisles and look for the sticker, than I can check out the shoe and see if I like it. Pretty sweet, right?! Plus, DSW carries the only kind of shoes I run in - Asics. Even when I am not in the market for a new paid I always check the sales section. If there is a pair of running Asics there I’ll buy them.

So, it comes as no surprise that when I was given the chance to participate in the 50-blogger DSW Shoe Hookup I jumped at the chance. Get a pair of shoes for myself to try and rave about AND offer my readers 5 pairs of shoes plus 5 copies of the book Do You Speak Shoe Lover. A pretty sweat deal for everyone involved.

I requested the Coconuts Britain Riding Boots because of all the boots in my collection I actually do not own a simple pair of riding boots. Shocking, I know! In the two weeks I’ve had these I’m pretty sure they have been my go-to pair of shoes at least 10 of the 14 days. They go with everything, are super comfortable to wear and are easy to be in all day without wanting to rip them off your feet by the end of the day. Bonus! They’ve already made it through several inches of snow and being hastily packed in a suitcase for a weekend trip.

Skirt: Ann Taylor LOFT
Sweater: Target
Tights: Target
Boots: c/o DSW
Necklace: c/o Mimi Boutique
Earrings: Claire’s

In the days ahead, until my winners are announced on the 19th, I’ll post different outfits and how I used the riding boots to finish off each look… skirts, dresses, pants, jeans. These boots work with just about everything in my closet.

Okay, can you tell I’m a little excited about them? Enter for a chance to win below. (There will be 10 winners in all - 5 pairs of shoes, 5 copies of the book!)

My most memorable shoe purchase is my Fergalicious Castello Riding boots because it’s so hard to find the perfect pair of riding boots when I’m so short, lol. Now they’re my favorite pair!

I bought a pair of sandals at Lord and Taylor fifteen years ago and have worn them to death - and they still look like new. Amazing! I also have a pair of black boots from DSW that I could not live without.

The most memorable pair I purchased this year was the Mojo Moxy Broody pumps I bought for my birthday yesterday. Since it snowed then rained I had to opt for a pair of boots for my birthday. Those Mojo Moxys will now be my New Years Eve shoe weather permitting.

My most memorable shoe purchase was when I was 16 and had my first job. I wanted a new pair of shoes that I earned on my own and it felt so rewarding to buy my fist pair with my hard earned money!! I am now a certified SHOE LOVER!! Thanks for the chance 🙂

I once bought a pair of Donna Karan pumps that were listed at $599… and I got them for $70! I was pretty psyched 🙂

My most memorable show purchase was when I had my very first job. I detassled corn all summer long at 14 and I didnt have any ‘dressy’ shoes. I bought a pair of heels and almost broke my neck in them, but by goodness I looked cute sitting down. Looking back they werent terribly high heeled but my Dad almost had a fit 🙂

My most memorable shoe purchase was a few months back - I was looking online at some black d’orsay pumps and my husband decided he wanted to help choose (he has NEVER done this before). He ended up selecting a pair that cost 5x the original pair I was looking at (he paid)! :))

Oh gosh…I have not had one. 🙁 I think my most memorable….and funny now…was when at the state fair years ago and I stepped in a puddle of mud….and sunk! I had to buy a pair of shoes at the fair stands! I did find a nice pair!

  22. Ericka S.

My most memorable purchase was my very first pair of not in my budget heels. I was in high school and saved up all my money working at my part time job to buy black/white peep toe heels I thought at the time were to die for! They were $90 and went on sale for $50. So weird, how now that seems like nothing for some shoes.

  23. Ruby Abrego

I would really love to win some boots for my sister 🙂 I think the most memorable shoes would be some heels that were way to high for me, that I couldnt return, and that I still have in my closet unworn.

  24. Alex

Most memorable shoe purchase was definitely buying my wedding shoes. I spotted the perfect Jimmy Choos on eBay and started bidding… but was constantly outbid by someone else. My sister had to do the bidding in a different time zone (when the other bidder was probably asleep??) for me to get the shoes. I absolutely adore those shoes. 🙂

  25. Tarah

I had been hunting for the perfect pair of riding boots & finally stopped in a store at the mall I never shop at. It’s not geared towards my style at all but I’m so glad I popped in. I found the perfect pair, in my budget. Perfect color. I was thrilled when I grabbed them off the shelf.
