When I lived in Boston and basically worked as a glorified RA, there were many times when one of the students or staff would get sick but refuse to go to the doctors. Typical college students were convinced they were fine and their ailments were not worth the time and effort it took to find a doctor, set up an appointment and seek treatment. With some that mentality worked and they got better on their own, but there were some that only got worse. Before long I was loading them into the car and heading to a local Walgreens Healthcare Clinic.
Over the two years I worked there I visited these convenient health care professionals at least a dozen times. I accompanied someone with a scratched cornea, a severe flu bug, dehydration, and some other more serious issues. Each time we went the healthcare providers were quick, efficient and easy to talk with. They asked pointed questions, ran the basic test and then suggested a course of action.
When I got sideswiped with a horrible cold/flu bug earlier this month, I was hesitant to go to the doctors. I figured it would run its course and I’d be back on my feet in no time. But a week passed and I still felt horrible. Finally, I scheduled an appointment at the local Milwaukee Healthcare Clinic. (It’s closer to home than my doctor and a whole lot more convenient.)
I dreaded perhaps having some terrible flu bug, but after seeing the healthcare professional, answering her questions and letting her examine me, it was determined that no, I didn’t have the flu. But I did have a bad cold and I had let myself become so run down and dehydrated that my body wasn’t able to recover. A simple purchase of a cold/flu drug to help me get through the days and a supply of juices and Gatorade was the remedy. If I had needed a prescription, she could have written it for me right there and I could have had it filled immediately.
Getting an appointment is easy. You can either walk right in and use the handy check-in kiosk that takes the necessary information or you can schedule an appointment online. In a hurry? The website even lists locations and the wait time at each place.
The Walgreens Healthcare Clinic doesn’t just help with treatment. You can also have your physicals and health screenings done there, as well as basic vaccinations like flu, chickenpox, meningitis, and shingles.

The Walgreens Healthcare Clinic sounds so convenient. I’m glad they were able to help you when you were sick. I can imagine this would be a wonderful asset for when you are not feeling well or need quick access to medical care.
Seems very convenient!

As I’m reading this, I’m coughing my lungs out with a sinus infection — I’ve put off treatment for so long now that I just toughed it out. The thought of sitting in an urgent care waiting room all night sounds worse than being sick. Walgreens Healthcare Clinic would be so convenient for me!

Oh my gosh - no! Hope you feel better soon. Maybe a quick trip to Walgreen Healthcare Clinic will help you get over all the coughing and infection.
I’m really excited that Walgreens will be opening up more clinics soon, and would definitely use one if it were close by. We already got to Walgreens for our prescriptions, supplements, and photo processing, so this would be an added bonus! I remember stabbing my foot with the artificial tree pole last year and using Walgreens for an emergency Tetanus booster, I was so glad I didn’t have to go to urgent care!
Love walgreens, sounds great with more clinics…I just took a Dayquil today too!

Having a Walgreen’s health clinic in our area is so helpful, especially on weekends when we can’t get to our regular doctor.

I was amazed when I checked out the Walgreen’s Healthcare clinic how many services they had for Baby Boomers and beyond.

It’s really amazing how many things they offer. I’ve taken a few elderly family friends there at the start of winter to get their flu shots. It is so much easier than making a doctor’s appointment for something that is so simple.
