I’m a scarf girl, through and through. My closet shelf is stacked to the brim with all the various colors, patterns and styles I own. And of course, I’m always on the lookout for something new and exciting to add to the collection. Enter Moby & Tate, a New York-based company that specializes in the creation of unique scarves.
The name is meant to encapsulate two different styles in one innovative company. According to the site, Moby styles are for the young urban fashionista with a passion for turning heads. While the Tate styles are classic and edgy looks that are sure to spark conversations in every setting. Combined the collection offers a unique line of handcrafted neckwear that you won’t find in the department store or being worn by half the ladies at the mall.
Since fashion is constantly in flux, the designs and styles of Moby & Tate don’t last long. The company keeps looks current by creating small runs and limited quantities of each design. The scarves are made in both the US and Europe by using the highest quality materials, such as fine merino wool, precious silks and quality leathers.
I had the chance to try the Azita, which is a fun and funky scarf made with ultra soft lambskin leather and two decorative zippers. It comes in four solid colors as well as this multi-colored design. It’s gorgeous, soft and easy to wear. When I slipped it on I was stopped by several people wanting to know if I was wearing a leather scarf and where I got it - so it’s certainly an eye-catcher. I love that it can be wrapped once, twice or three times around the neck, or even unzippered and worn as more of a shall.
I also got the Aleah, which is a two-toned soft leather scarf that drapes around the neck and stays together with invisible magnets. The design is really unique and I love that the magnets can be connected in an array of ways to make the scarf look a little different.
I got the Savannah too, but haven’t put an outfit together to wear it yet. I love that this vintage crocheted flower loop scarf looks like little pearls. It’s going to be the perfect addition to a simple Holiday dress.
