Knot-Front Shirt from Casual to Dressy - 3 ways to style it

If you have been paying attention to fashion this summer you know that real and faux knot-front shirts are all the rage. To be honest, I’m loving the trend because it is easy to wear and a fun twist (pun intended) on a classic summer tee. Plus, the right shirt can easily be dressed up or dressed down.

I took this black and white striped knot-front shirt from Target and created three different looks from casual to dressy and somewhere in between.

3 Ways to Style a Knot-Front Shirt:

#1:: Super Casual

I see this look as something that can easily to worn to a backyard BBQ or a local carnival. It’s laid back with the colored shorts and flip flops, but with the shirt it gives the whole look a pinch of class. You could pair it with cut-off jean shorts or really any pair of colored shorts. I’ve worn similar looks with my jean shorts and a pair of black shorts as well.

#2:: Laid-back Denim

This is maybe a slight step-above the first casual look, but it is still comfy and easy to wear. It’s a style that would work well for a backyard party or brunch with the girls. Pair the cropped denim with a pair of heels or wedge sandals to dress the look up a little more. Or pair it with flip flops or tennis shoes for a more laid back look. Easy Breezy.

#3:: Dressy Casual

Pleated skirts are still in this season, so I think this is a great option if you need an outfit that is a little dressier than jeans. The t-shirt still makes the outfit more casual than formal, but the skirt steps it up a notch making it the perfect look for a number of nicer summer events. It could be worn to a college graduation, a baby’s Baptism, weeknight drinks or church on Sunday.

Plus, I love the contrasting stripes here. The pleats give a subtle vertical stripe while the shirt provides horizontal stripes. The subtle skirt stripe pairs well with the bolder shirt stripe.
