Chances are that during the summer months you’ll find me in a denim skirt at least one day per week. To me, they are the warm weather equivalent of my favorite pair of jeans - easy to wear, comfortable to be in all day, endless styling possibilities. What’s not to love?

This summer, as I wore one denim skirt outfit after another I started chronicling the different ways I’ve worn them to consolidate the look into one blog post. Full disclosure, I own three denim skirts - the classic Lee Denim skirt pictured in most the images, a white one, and one that snaps up the front in a below-the-knee style. I wear the three pretty interchangeably and I think you can do the same with whatever denim skirt you happen to have in your closet now. And a few of the looks I pulled from last summer as well.
One:: Denim Skirt with a Basic Tee
You can wear this look in a number of different ways. Tuck the t-shirt into your skirt. Give it a little Tan-approved French tuck. Knot the shirt on the side or in the front. Allow the shirt to lay as it usually would over the skirt. Find the look that works best for you and for the shape of the shirt. Plus, this style, as you can see below, can be worn with wedges, booties and sneakers.

Two:: Denim Skirt with a Kimono
I’m a sucker for a kimono during the summer months. They add an interesting eye-catching element to your look, usually without adding a heat-inducing layer. Plus, depending on the kimono, it can really dress up the denim skirt, like this look with the more structured orange kimono. I’m also repeated this look with a patterned kimono, as well as kimonos that were longer and shorter.

Three:: Denim Skirt with a Blouse
For a more dressed up look - perhaps something you could get away with on a casual Friday in the office, try pairing a blouse with your denim skirt. Since these tend to be a little shapeless, I like to either partially tuck the blouse in (again with the French tuck) or knot the ends together to cinch the waist. Since the denim skirt is basically a solid, you can be bold with the colors or patterns of your blouse.

Four:: Denim Skirt with a Vest
Similar to the kimono look, a vest can add an interesting element to the standard skirt and t-shirt look. This long green vest is one of my favorites, so you will often see me pairing it with a number of things in my closet. If a long vest is not your style, you can also go with a traditional vest. At times I’ll pair this with a denim vest in a lighter color.
