5 Workout Essentials When You’re Just Getting Started

If you’re looking to start working out or get back into the swing of regular workouts, it can be a little daunting. What do I need? How should I start? Where should I workout? Don’t overthink it. Get started with 5 workout essentials and dive in to the fitness game. The other things you can figure out as you go. But if you commit to 30 minutes of exercise per day, there are a few things that you will absolutely need.

Here are 5 workout essentials for women:

1:: Comfortable gym shoes

One of the most important essentials for women looking to work out is a decent pair of comfortable trainers. Most workouts are going to require you to be on your feet and if you don’t have a pair of shoes that support you, you’re going to find that you’re doing a lot more harm than good. Whilst it may take some time to find the perfect pair, it will be worth it when you know you can work out in comfort. 2:: Leggings You Feel Comfortable In

It might seem inconsequential, but what you wear to workout is an important piece of the puzzle. You need your attire to be as comfortable and functional as possible. If you’ve ever tried to run long distances in sweatpants your know that isn’t a winning combination. Workouts can involve a lot of movement and if you’re not wearing leggings that allow you to do this, you’re not going to be working to your full potential. 3:: A Sturdy Sports Bra

Similar to the leggings, the right undergarments can make a big difference on your workout. If you know you’re going to be doing a lot of high-impact exercises, you need to be sure you have a sturdy sports bra that isn’t too tight or too loose. Not only will it make the whole experience more comfortable but it will also help protect your back from any injuries. For a guide to finding a great sports bra, you can visit this site.

4:: An Easy To Use Water Bottle

Honestly, this is one of the hardest things for me. I’m always switching mine up to find the perfect one. When you’re on the go, especially if you’re running outside, it’s incredibly difficult to open and close a water bottle while moving. Not only will you be focusing on your workout but you will also have limited time to stop and rest. The same goes for HIIT workouts or even tread mill runs. With this in mind, opt for a water bottle that is easy to open and drink out of. And remember practice makes perfect.

5:: A Strong Gym Bag

A little less essential if you are starting off with some easy workouts at home, but once you graduate to the gym or outdoors runs, you need a strong gym bag to carry all of your gear. From your running shoes to your leggings, and headphones to tension bands, having a place to store everything is crucial to ensuring you get the most out of your time working out.

Even if you don’t go to the gym, a gym bag means you can take your workout gear with you where ever you go. When I was training for the Chicago Marathon last year, I would always carry a packed gym bag in the back of the car so that if I had some time, I could easily change and hit the road for a quick run after work or in between appointments.
