This is what I wore to my cousin’s wedding down in Savannah. Trying to find a dress to wear to the wedding was 10 times harder than I expected it to be. There were so many factors to take into account. It was an evening wedding, with the Church service beginning at 6:15 and the reception to follow. The bridesmaids and mother of the groom were in floor-length gowns. The forecast called for temperatures in the 90’s even at night. Plus, I needed a dress that would pack well folded up in my carry-on because I had no plans to check luggage for a four day trip.
In the end I narrowed the choice down to two options. This dress, which surprising is from Kohl’s, and a stunning all green Calvin Klein dress that I picked up at Boston Store. I couldn’t decide. Over the course of two weeks I must have tried the dresses on a dozen times - hemming and hawing over which one would be more appropriate but also which one was more ME. When I couldn’t decide I took both dresses home and modeled for my family. They were all going to the wedding and all the girls had been sharing text pictures back and forth for weeks now. I put the green one on first - everyone (brothers included) all approved. I put this purple one on, came out of the bathroom and my dad chuckled. I asked him what was so funny and he said that this one was so much more me. Everyone agreed. Problem solved.
The next issue was picking shoes. I could have gone the safe route and gone with the basic black patent leather pumps I have but that seemed like the safe and obvious option. I tried on a number of different shoes with the dress and opted for the coral wedges. They were comfy enough to wear all day; interesting enough to make them stand out without being too flashy, and so much more Katy Rose than a black pump.

In case you were interested… here’s what my mom and sister Mona wore. (Mona painted her own shoes to make sure the heel matched her belt perfectly!)
Sidenote… Aren’t these pictures to crisp and clear? I didn’t photoshop them or anything, just cropped to better fit the blog. The pictures were taken with the Samsung Galaxy Camera from Verizon. I seriously cannot get enough of it. I went a little social media crazy at the wedding as a result of having a connected camera. (Disclosure: I am part of the Verizon Voices Style program. I have been provided with a wireless device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.)

I love that dress- it fits you so well. I’m curious to see what the CK dress looks like. (I’m a sucker for green.)
Your mom and sister are gorgeous just like you!

This dress is perfect on you! Good pick. Kohl’s is surprisingly good for last-minute wedding guest dresses. I’ve bought a few there actually. Your mom and sister look gorgeous, too. I love your mom’s shoes!

You ladies all look fantastic! I like the coral shoes with your dress… somehow it just works! They’re almost a nude, but just a little pinkier, so perhaps that’s why. Either way, it’s one of those things that just came together nicely. Beautiful dress! You’ll get a ton of wear out of that.
