Dresses that Brunch at Over Easy Cafe

Last weekend I took my little brother out to brunch in order to catch-up on his first year at Loyola University. Do you remember that first year? Mine was rough. Really, really rough. Luckily, he seems to be doing really well and running into none of the problems and drama I was ‘privileged’ enough to experience.

Since I was treating, we went to a restaurant that I have been hearing a lot of buzz about - Over Easy Cafe in Ravenswood. This place is small - I mean really small for a popular breakfast spot. A table for two meant a 40-minute wait at 10am on a Sunday. The wait, at least in nice weather, was no big deal on a lazy Sunday morning and they have little cups of free coffee available for those waiting outside.

Honestly, the wait was totally worth the food. Over Easy Cafe has a traditional brunch menu but also a weekly specialty menu. We both ordered off that. I opted with the chilaquiles, which were delicious and with only a slight spicy kick. Joe got Over Easy’s holiday version of Eggs Benedict. Apparently, that dish is only served on the Labor Day and Memorial Day weekends. Yum! I will admit, both Joe and I found the coffee bitter - adding sugar when we usually go without. Our waitress was adorable and super knowledgeable, especially about the specials. Our coffee cups and water glasses never even reached the half-empty stage.

This dress is one I have had in my closet for years, but have worn maybe once. It had a weird snap at the bust area that was just funky and non-functional. Luckily, I have a mom who is an amazing seamstress and she was able to remove the snap without ruining the dress. I figured that fix called for a prompt wearing.
