No Pants, Just Skirts and Dresses

In the middle of December, I had a dream. Okay, maybe it was more of a nightmare. In a fit of crazy independence I went and found the closest dive of a tattoo parlor and asked the artist to give me two large, really cool tattoos of her choice on my shins. In this dream, I sat there very content and excited as she gave me the most awful one-eyed ghost tattoo on the front of my right shin. As she moved on to sketch out the winy-face emoji for the other leg, I finally came to my senses and ran out of there. For a moment I panicked because of course a one-eyed ghost is not exactly work appropriate, nor was the tattoo even good looking enough to show off. But, still, I went into my boss and told her that she would need to change the policy on visible tattoos because I refused to wear pants ever again in my entire life.

Strange dream? Yes! But it did make we realize that I very rarely, wear pants. In fact, as far as work-appropriate pants for the winter go, I own one pair. Not even kidding. And that is a borderline pair of black dressy denim. The pants look dressy enough that it isn’t as though I am wearing denim, but that is literally the only pair of pants I can wear in the winter weather. So, instead I opt for lots of dresses and skirts paired with tall boots and warm thick tights.

Yesterday, for our first bitterly cold day, this is what I wore. It’s layers upon layers, and it worked perfectly well at keeping me warm despite the chill that permeated everything. But it certainly got a number of comments from people telling me I was bold to not be more covered up. That I was brave not to wear pants. That they wouldn’t be caught dead in anything like this.

Style Tip: It’s all about the layers to keep warm and still wear a dress of skirt. Think of layering a fitted tank top or even long sleeved shirt as your first ‘invisible’ layer. You can even wear two pairs of tights, maybe one solid and then one with a pattern.

I have a recurring nightmare where someone tattoos a giant tweety bird tattoo on my calf. Terrifying!

I really love those boots. The lace up detail in the back is super cute.

I love wearing dresses with leggings in the winter. I have so many worn, see-through leggings that are perfect for layering and look like wool tights. Now I just need to work on getting more pairs of boots to wear with them.

I choose skirts or dresses over pants most of the time too. Since I can’t wear jeans to work and I don’t love “dress pants”, I find skirts and dresses are just a better option for my personal style. Your dream about the tattoos is so funny, it’s weird to think about what are sub-concious is telling us. Great outfit girl!

Agreed, I don’t love dress pants either. They are so hard to fit so that they look good without being too baggy or too tight. Plus with my long legs it’s even more difficult. (And yeah, the dream was insanely weird.)

First, I’m jealous that you have snow! I wish it would snow here this year, but it is really unlikely. Second, I love your outfit! Those boots are too cute!

HA! We always want what we don’t have, because I would be totally fine with no snow at all this winter!

I feel like you and I are super similar…I have one pair of jeans (that still fit) lol most of my life I’ve been a dress girl. So although I’m in Texas and snow is about as common in San Antonio as solar eclipses it does get by our standards, so I have to figure out how to stay warm in a dress.

Dia, I do tend to wear jeans but don’t have any other pairs of pants. Jealous of how much easier it is to wear dresses and skirts in Texas. I’d trade it in for all this snow.

I don’t know if this would be warm enough where I live, but I do try and get my skirt fix when the weather isn’t too cold. I love those boots, btw.

Love the outfit (not that I recall you ever wearing anything I didn’t like) and even envying you the snow! Never thought I’d see the day THAT would happen.

I cannot believe I got this same sweater. It looked sooooo bad on me and looks so great on you. This is a funny post as it is me to a T! No dress pants at all.
