This is a weekly series I’m writing in 2016 to focus on one of my three words for the year: beauty. Each Monday a post will explore some aspect of beauty that I’ve been considering. Read more about my focus words of the year.
It’s the end of a very drab, very dull February and I have to say I am not sad to see this month leave us behind. So, this beauty post for the 52 Weeks of Beauty is going to be fun and light-hearted. Because who doesn’t love leopard print?!
I have to admit that I am one of those people who gets addicted to a certain style of clothing or pattern. In college and the first years after graduation I only purchased striped shirts. My closet was full of button down. Oddly enough I actually didn’t even love them. I just thought it was what young professionals are supposed to be clothed in.
Years after that it was black, all black. My closet was pretty much devoid of color and pattern. Everything was black from the pants, to the shirts, to the dresses, to the skirts.
Now, and pretty much for the last four years, it has been leopard print. And my obsession with this pattern has reached epic levels. I just find this specific animal print beautiful and always eye-catching. To name a few off the top of my head, my closet and world consists of:
- a pair of high heel booties
- a pair of flat dress shoes
- a pair of flat casual lace-up shoes
- a button-up blouse
- a purple scarf
- a knee-length dress
- a pencil skirt
- a couple t-shirts
- a light-weight wrap-sweater
- a pair of shorts
- a gray and white cardigan
- a maxi dress
- a pair of super comfy slippers
- a phone case
- a pencil case
- an envelope clutch
- a clutch purse
So, on any day I’ve got at least one if not two or three pieces of leopard print near me. Why? Well to me, it is a perfect basic - a lot like black or brown. But while being a great basic it adds a bit of interest to a look, a little extra something something. Plus, with leopard print as an accent the accessories aren’t as important. It’s a beauty, that’s for sure.
And leopard print of years gone by:
- a vest
- a sweater
- an over-sized t-shirt
- a casual gray and white dress
- a safari and leopard print dress
- a fleece shawl
- a high-low blouse
- a reversible tote bag
Do you have a clothing style or pattern that you find beautiful?
