The Perfect Moisturizer for those Beginning a Skin Care Routine

I often hear women say they don’t have a skin routine because it is so overwhelming to figure out what products to use. Primer, moisturizer, spf, cleanser, toner, concealer… the list goes on and on. And I will admit - I was the same. At times it still seems overwhelming. But I’ve got a simple solution that is perfect for the newbie to facial care, as well as the gal who has a routine they have practiced faithfully for years - Olay Whip Regenerist with SPF 25.

This little red bottle of greatness is a triple-play for skin care. It moisturizes. It protects with SPF. It acts as a primer. BAM! What more do you need?

It Moisturizes. I have tried several dozen moisturizers over the last few years and this is the one that I come back to time and time again. It is one of the only moisturizers that doesn’t have me breaking out after a couple uses. It goes on easily. It is non-greasy and lightweight - which are two important factors in the hot summer months. And a little goes a long way so you’ll get your money’s worth! Honestly this is the one moisturizer that I recommend to EVERYONE who asks. Three of my co-workers are now using this because I told them it was a must!

It contains SPF. One of the things I am trying to get better at in my 30s is using sunscreen - or at least using products that contain SPF to protect my skin. As I begin to see slight signs of aging from the sun, I am all about products like this that work SPF into the mix. How easy is it to remember when it is already part of your morning skin care routine? And even better when it is not an extra step I need to apply, but all part of that initial moisturizing step!

It’s a primer. If you are anything like me, I like to wear as little makeup and product on my face in the summer months as possible. So if I can remove the primer stage from my makeup process, all the better! With Olay Whip Regenerist there is no need to apply a primer on top of it. Just apply evenly all over your face and neck and then go about your usual makeup routine. For me, in the summer that means eyeliner, mascara, a touch of blush, and a little lip color. Nothing more.

For those feeling overwhelmed by the number of skin care options available, or those looking to create their own skin care routine, to me, Olay Whip Regenerist with SPF 25 is the perfect beginner product. Well, really it’s the perfect product at any level. What other products moisturize, protect from the sun, act as a primer, don’t cause you to break out and are easy to find at local retailers, including Amazon, Walgreens, CVS, etc… Snag your own Olay Whips at Amazon.

Skincare can (and should) be simple. Cleansing, moisturising and remembering sun protection are the only things you need to do. Anything else is just a bonus (although I highly recommend a good mask on a regular basis, for pampering of the self if nothing else). I am constantly amazed at the number of products we are told we ‘must have’ for good skin - my Nan used soap and sorbolene and she had beautiful skin.

I don’t use a toner or a serum or anything else ‘fancy’. Actually, that is wrong; I am telling a fib. I use Clarins Beauty Flash Balm as an eye cream. But I’ve only just started that at 48 (I’ve been doing this for less than a week - family photos threaten). Until now, I’ve pretty much been cleanse, moisiturise with one thing everywhere, and SPF. My moisturiser is a cheapy (supermarket brand) with a bit of olive, rice bran and grapeseed oil blended in for extra moisture. I use that same oil trio at night as an eye moisture boost. I wash my face with home-made soap and a washcloth. I SPF50+every day, and wear sunglasses year round.

I’ve also just started using makeup again for the first time in years (on HOLIDAYS so I can - no red dust - woooo!) I use a BB cream, translucent powder, maybe lipstick, maybe eyeshadow & eyeliner. That’s it. There are a million options, but I like to keep it simple (and let’s face it, I am lazy). That being said, this is a product I will keep on my radar - primer is something I may need to consider at a near point in the future. Unless a miracle happens and my (genetically determined) pigmentation patches vanish of their own accord….

PS: I haven’t forgotten that sunscreen post I was going to do, I just haven’t gotten there yet…. a couple of articles popped up that I need to translate to plain terms, and integrate.

PPS: When is your marathon? I’ve been keeping an eye out for updates xx
