Even before Dressember began I found myself gravitating toward simple dresses, that would work well in the fall and winter months, and that would make layering possible and easy. This little gray dress fit the bill. It is a super simple design, with a slightly interesting neckline/collar area. It has pockets, which automatically makes it 100x’s better. And the gray tone is going to pair really well with a number of classic winter colors - merlot, black, even navy.
And can we for one second talk about the awkwardness of taking outfit pictures. I’ve been at this for a long time now - more than 6 years. The majority of the time it has been just me and a camera with a timer taking pictures. Which is all kinds of awkward when people walk by and wonder what you are doing posed all alone.
Recently, I have begun enlisting the help of others. Still, it’s awkward to say the least. Taking these pictures meant having to move out of the way a dozen times for passing cars, once for two teen-aged boys on skate boards, and once for a city truck searching for the coyote that was roaming around in the local backyards (not even kidding!). I know it’s my own sensitivity making this awkward, but seriously, it is strange. Then again, in our selfie-obsessed culture, I suppose it is pretty normal these days to see people taking pictures of themselves anywhere and everywhere.
