I celebrated Christmas with my immediate family on December 24th. The plan was to go with our family tradition of an all appetizer meal followed by present opening and other shenanigans. That was the plan, but it was nearly foiled when the basement flooded with 3 inches of water. The basement, where all the presents sat happily wrapped and were suddenly water-logged. The basement where my mom’s quilting things are kept and where all my dad’s tools permanently live. So rather than making appetizers, mom and the girls were busy cleaning out the basement, while the boys attempted to hightail it home from a hunting expedition.

It could have been a disaster, but we rallied, got the basement cleaned up as best we could, threw a bunch of appetizers in the oven and still enjoyed one another the best we could.

We didn’t manage to get too many pictures together this year, with all the craziness, but my niece was more than willing to pose for some Dressember pictures.
