This past weekend was the Fashion Matters Chicago spring event, Reawakening the Art of Dress. As a committee member and the one who helped put the website and social media accounts together, I wanted to make sure I put my best foot forward. Plus, it was a fashion event, which always adds a layer of distress to the outfit creation process.
Skirt: Kohls
Blouse: Vince Camuto
Tights: Target
Booties: ModCloth
Earrings: Stella and Dot
There were fashion designers, fellow bloggers, personal stylists, and all sorts of other fashion enthusiasts in attendance - which makes picking the perfect outfit even more of a challenge.
I won’t lie, my bedroom that morning as I ran out the door looked like a bomb exploded. Even after trying out several different outfits the night before and narrowing it down to three options, I still needed to try on a couple other options and finally decided on this full skirt, leopard print blouse, tights and my favorite pair of fringe booties.
What I liked about this look was how it is subtly fashion forward while still being so totally me. The black skirt looks unpatterned from far away, making it more commonly appropriate for a patterned top. But up close the black-on-black dots became more apparent. I’m loving the combo of dots and leopard. The booties bring in another color, but one that is complimentary rather than distracting.

You made the right choices. I know everyone loved your dress, hope the event went great.
